My Favorite Android Apps

My Favorite Android Apps

I am a very proud of owner of Samsung Galaxy S2. I really do love it. Here are my favorite Apps in no particular order.

Whatsapp (free):

Who doesn’t like whatsapp? I love it. It unifies owners of android, blackberry and iPhone together. Sometimes it lags but overall, I am very happy with it.

Twitter (free):

It’s addicting and it is cool. I get my tweets right away.

Tripit (free)

It’s great for traveling. Sign up and forward your hotel booking and ticket confirmation emails to a specified email and the app will automatically sort out your trip and provides you with your flight number, flight time departure, airport information, when it is time to check in and check out, how far is your hotel to your airport, etc. I highly recommend it if you want all of your trip information on your mobile.

Facebook (free):

Even though almost everyone is now on twitter, you can never forget your Facebook friends.

Exchange Rate (free):

I love it. The exchange rates are updated instantly. Very useful for traveling and ordering stuff online.

Viber (free):

If you want to save on long distance calls and your friends & family members are on Viber, I suggest downloading it. Very reliable.

Tango (Free):

It’s good for video chatting but sometimes it doesn’t work.

Flashlight (Free)

Just click on it and the camera flash will work as a torch. I’ve used it sometimes when we have blackouts.

Business Calendar (free & paid)

It’s available free and paid but I prefer the paid version. You can create GREAT widgets with your appointments on your screen.

Handscent SMS (free)

I love it. It’s way better than the default messaging app that comes with Galaxy S2.

My Prayer (Free)

Get prayer times daily and it automatically identifies where you are and gives you the prayer times.

Zinio (Free):

I love zinio. I get to read my favorite magazines instantly. The app is free but you need to pay for magazines subscriptions. The yearly magazine subscriptions are from $9.99. It’s cheap considering you have to pay around 3-5kd for ONE issue only. I’m subscribed to  National Geographic,  The Herb Companion, Saveur, Glamour, Shape, Instyle, Macworld, Food Network, Elle, Bloomberg Businessweek, etc. Once you subscribe, the magazine will be available for you in many forms: online, android, iPhone, iPad. I usually read them using my iPad but sometimes when I’m bored, waiting for an appointment, I quickly download an issue and read it on my mobile.

Google Translate (free)

Sometimes when you are traveling and the person in front of you doesn’t understand any English, it’s a live-saver. Just type what you want and it will translate.

iQuran Pro (paid & free)

I love it. In the paid version, you can search through the verses. Very useful especially if you are waiting for an appointment and want to read Quran.

حصن المسلم (Free)

Very useful. Instead of carrying it around when traveling, just read it from your mobile.
